Current Events

Garden State deserves my adoration for two huge reasons: A blankie. The Shins. Zach Braff. Oh, that's three.

I found an old photo of me (circa '80? '81?) in which I am wearing a pair of kelly green pants. I must have a pair of kelly green pants. Must.

I have been in love with Maggie Cheung for a while, but her eyeliner in Hero? Hello, amazing.

Home Depot with a doorman? So there.

Suddenly, Last Summer

I love birthdays. Despite having dropped the ball on, um, pretty much everyone's birthday this summer (except you, Ryan, so feel special), I get really mad if anyone forgets my birthday. Cake, flowers, balloons, a built-in excuse to do, say or buy just about anything I want: all these things rock. So you can imagine how much like an assass (an aside: I thought this was something Judy and I came up with on our own, and it seemed so brilliant at the time, as did assear, but that's another story, but Ryan claims that he and his friends were all over assass back in college. Well whatev.) I felt when I realized Bravermundo's birthday had come and gone, and I didn't even get my shit together to send it like at least a Hello Kitty e-card. Man.

So now we are one. At this time last year, I was happily residing at the Hotel California in Chennai, pondering dharma and karma and waking up before 6am. Now I'm freshly moved, back in Leawood (or, Leahood as my mom and I like to call it. Reprazent.), sorting through the contents of my old apartment (hellooo, boxes I haven't seen in more than a year), adjusting to the hideous wallpaper of our rental house and listening only, it seems, to Phoenix's "Everything is Everything."
