I Lost it at the Amusement Park
The Cyclone's fine, but my heart will always belong to the Orient Express, the first rollercoaster I ever truly loved. Our affair began shortly after it opened, in 1980, when you could ride whatever the hell you wanted as long as you were accompanied by an adult (props to my dad for going on every ride with me and keeping me in funnel cakes). I'm not sure how many times I've ridden the Express, but I loved that first gut-busting dip, and I cherished every upside-down loop (all four of them!). I never threw up.
My sweet Orient Express is being retired and I never got to say goodbye. Sniff.
